The Somnath Jyotirlinga is one of the most revered and ancient Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, located in Prabhas Patan near Veraval , in the Saurashtra region of Gujarat , India. It's not only a prominent religious site but also a symbol of resilience and spiritual heritage.
According to Shiva Purana , the Moon God ( Chandra Dev ) was cursed by his father-in-law, Daksha, to lose his radiance. He prayed to Lord Shiva at this site and was blessed, regaining his brightness. Lord Shiva, pleased with his devotion, resided there as Somnath , meaning "Protector of the Moon".
